Women in Music Series

As apart of Tau Beta Sigma's mission statement, "Our Women in Music Speaker series is designed to give our chapter members exposure to the unique experiences of professional women in music-related fields, to promote equality and diversity, and to cultivate music appreciation." Each year, the Vice President for Special Projects invites one or more speakers that may discuss their journey with music and where their passion for music originated from.

Coda

Coda, signifying the end of a movement in music, is one of the many National Programs Tau Beta Sigma offers. "The program’s purpose is to focus on cultivating and continuing musicianship and music appreciation during the “concluding passage” of life." The Zeta Alpha Chapter performs at different nursing homes throughout their community to spread their love of music, tying back to Tau Beta Sigma's values.

Crescendo

Crescendo, a term used to describe a gradual increase in sound, is another National Program.  Interpreted as Tau Beta Sigma's "Youth Music Initiative," the Zeta Alpha Chapter visits performs at local elementary, middle, and high schools during their music class or at extra-curricular music activities. Our main goal is to involve younger kids in finding a passion for music and appreciating the art continuously as they grow up.

...And Many More!

Zeta Alpha has many different service opportunities that they do to not only serve the community but also the University Bands. The Illinois State Marching Band Competition is our biggest service event of the year. We host over 30 High School Marching Bands from in- and out-of-state high schools, completing tasks such as handling judge's recordings, distributing wristbands to high schoolers, or selling ISU merchandise!
Water Crew is another opportunity for the Zeta Alpha members to serve the University Bands. They help keep the Big Red Marching Machine hydrated on game day, which is not an easy task!
