The members of Zeta Alpha are actively involved in many events throughout the year, allowing them to create lifelong bonds and consistently give back to the community through both national and chapter service programs and projects.
Women in Music Series
"Our Women in Music Speaker series is designed to give our chapter members exposure to the unique experiences of professional women in music-related fields, to promote equality and diversity, and to cultivate music appreciation." Each year we have either a panel or a single speaker of Women in Music that is open to everyone, that promotes the ideals of our mission statement about Women in the music profession.
"The program’s purpose is to focus on cultivating and continuing musicianship and music appreciation during the “concluding passage” of life." Zeta Alpha performs our Coda program each year at different nursing homes throughout our community to spread our love of music that ties back to Tau Beta Sigma's purposes.
Crescendo is our "Youth Music Initiative." Zeta Alpha performs at local elementary or middle schools during their music class or at schools after-school music programs. We perform our own songs as well as involving the children in songs they can participate in. We aim to promote and involve children in music and the arts at a young age.
...And Many More!
Zeta Alpha has many different service projects of their own that help to serve our bands and community. Band Day is our biggest service event of the year. We host an over 30 High School Marching Band Competition and complete tasks such as handling judge's recordings, distributing wristbands to high schoolers, or selling ISU merch! Another service project we have is our Water Crew. They help keep the Big Red Marching Machine hydrated on game day, which is not an easy task!
